Direct Acting Solenoid Valve VS Pilot Operated Solenoid Valve
- Válvula DELCO
Solenoid valves are the most commonly used control elements in fluids. Their tasks are to close, release, dose, distribute or mix fluids. So, how do solenoid valves work and what is the difference between direct-acting solenoid valves e pilot-operated solenoid valves? Continue reading this blog and you will gain something.
Structural Difference
The biggest difference between pilot-operated solenoid valves and direct-acting solenoid valves is their structure.
Direct-operated solenoid valves work by transmitting electromagnetic force directly to the spool, which is attracted by the electromagnetic force and then directly opens or closes the fluid passage.
Pilot-operated solenoid valves, on the other hand, use two spools, one of which is called the pilot spool and is used to control the action of the other spool. The position of the pilot spool is controlled by a solenoid coil, which regulates the pressure difference, thus enabling control of the main spool. Therefore, pilot operated solenoid valves have one more pilot spool than direct operated solenoid valves, and are accordingly more complex in structure.
Working Principle Difference
Pilot-operated solenoid valves and direct-operated solenoid valves also have differences in working principle.
Direct-acting solenoid valve operation is relatively simple, only need to apply voltage can directly attract or release the spool.
The working principle of pilot-operated solenoid valves is that when energized, the electromagnetic force opens the pilot orifice, the pressure in the upper chamber drops rapidly, and a high and low pressure difference is formed around the closing member. Fluid pressure pushes the closing member to move upward, the valve opens; in the case of power failure, the pilot hole is closed by the spring force, the pressure of the inlet through the bypass hole, so that the chamber in the valve closure member around the rapid formation of low and high pressure difference, the fluid pressure pushes the closure member to move downward to close the valve.
Application Difference
Because the structure of the pilot-operated solenoid valve is more complex, so it is usually used for the flow and pressure requirements of higher occasions, such as steam, high pressure water, oil and other media control.
O direct-acting solenoid valve is relatively simple, suitable for the control of the medium is not very high requirements of the occasion.
Conclusão
In summary, pilot-operated solenoid valves and direct-acting solenoid valves in the structure, principle of operation and scope of use there are greater differences. In practice, according to the medium, flow, pressure and other elements to choose the appropriate type of solenoid valve to ensure the normal operation of the system.
